So you want to be a Jr Data Engineer?

A Jr Data Engineer gathers, cleans, troubleshoots and processes data, so that it can be used by various business teams, data scientists, and analysts. They build technologies of infrastructure, pipelines, dashboards, and processes of technology for unstructured data. Jr Data Engineers may also conduct simple analysis as required. 

As key members of the data management and analytics teams, data engineers drive value for the organisation and its clients by having a thorough understanding of data, its purpose, and its usage. Their major responsibilities include designing and building data platforms to collect, store, and retrieve raw data, building data pipelines effectively, applying structured problem-solving techniques to determine solutions, and designing and deploying data solutions on cloud and creating dashboards for further analysis. 

Jr Data Engineers will also need to communicate and collaborate with internal and external stakeholders. They will also need to take charge of learning new technical skills to improve their performance and stay current in the industry.

Requirements

  • To be eligible for SkillsFuture’s SCTP subsidy of 70-95% course fee, applicants need to be: -
    • Singapore Citizens or Permanent Residents
    • Above the age of 21
    • No minimum education or experience needed
  • To be eligible for Skills for Success (SFS)’ fully funded course fee and $1,000 monthly stipend, on top of SCTP requirements, applicants need to be:
    • 21-35 years old
    • Unemployed, or employed with less than $2,500 monthly income
    • Not enrolled in full-time education or training
