  3. The Microsoft #GetReadySG initiative consists of two programmes, the SG United Mid-Career Pathways Programme – Company Training (SGUP-CT) and the Company-Led Training (CLT).

The SGUP-CT is a SkillsFuture programme for young professionals and mid-career job seekers looking to gain in-demand digital skills and launch their careers in the technology sector. The 9-month programme consists of a 3-month job-role specific training bootcamp, delivered in partnership with Temasek Polytechnic. The training bootcamp is followed by an up to 6-month paid apprenticeship with Microsoft and Generation employer partners.

The Company-Led Training (Hire and Train model) is for fresh graduates and mid-career professionals who want to start a full-time role while pursuing training alongside work. After being selected by an employer partner, trainees will receive a salary with CPF as they undergo a 9-month on-the-job training.

Both programmes will provide you with learning pathways that can lead to industry certification by Microsoft. An education background or work experience in technology is not a requirement to apply for both programmes. Upon completion of the 9-month programme, trainees will be able to apply for full-time openings at their respective host companies. Trainees will also receive additional placement assistance from Generation Singapore.

  4. The full course fee before subsidy is SGD21,190.00 + GST and nett course fee after subsidy is SGD750 (inclusive of GST) ( SGD700.93 + 07).

Please take note of the following requirements to be eligible for the subsidy:

    • Trainees must fulfil minimum attendance requirements and pass assessments to qualify for course fee subsidies.
    • Trainees who are unable to meet these requirements may be asked to return the course fee subsidies that they have received.

The program allows trainees to exit without penalty if they are successfully placed into a job or have secured a job of their own accord while undergoing training. However, trainees who exit the program without a valid reason may be asked to return the course fee subsidy that they have received

  5. Trainees will receive a monthly training allowance of up to $1,500 throughout the course of study.

Please take note of the following requirements to be eligible for the subsidy:

    • Trainees must fulfil minimum attendance requirements and pass assessments to qualify for course fee subsidies.
    • Trainees who are unable to meet these requirements may be asked to return the course fee subsidies that they have received.

The programme allows trainees to exit without penalty if they are successfully placed into a job or have secured a job of their own accord while undergoing training. However, trainees who exit the programme without a valid reason may be asked to return the course fee subsidy that they have received.

  6. Trainees will only be eligible for training allowance for the months in which they attend training and meet the minimum attendance requirement. The training allowance will be discontinued once the trainee leaves the programme, including early exit due to job placement.

  7. Recipients of the COVID-19 Recovery Grant (CRG) can participate in the programme, and they will continue to receive their pay-outs under the CRG. However, upon course commencement, the total amount (CRG pay-outs plus training allowance) that trainees receive will be $1,500. This is in line with the monthly training allowance provided under SGUnited Mid-Career Pathways Programme – Company Training ($1,500).

After their COVID-19 Recovery Grant support period ends, they will receive the full monthly training allowance of $1,500 for SGUnited Mid-Career Pathways Programme – Company Training.

  8. Trainees are encouraged to continue with their current programmes. The programmes allow early exit without penalty only if trainees are successfully placed into a job or have secured a job of their own accord while undergoing training. Switching to other programmes does not constitute job placement, and trainees may be asked to return the course fee subsidy that they had received.

In addition, in order to provide opportunities for as many Singaporeans and Permanent Residents as possible, individuals can only enrol in the SGUnited Skills Programme or SGUnited Mid-Career Pathways Programme – Company Training once.

  13. The programme is designed for individuals without an educational background or prior work experience in the technology sector.

We will cover relevant fundamental modules in the curriculum based on in-demand skills needed by employers. We provide as much support as we can with the help of our instructors and the peer support system of each cohort.

One of the mindsets that will be covered in the curriculum is, “persistence” and it is emphasized during the training bootcamp which allows learners to understand the importance of resilience.

We encourage our trainees to be proactive in their learning journey and continue learning outside of classroom hours to ensure success in their career pivot.

  14. We understand that there are a lot of programmes to choose from. We recommend that you start with our ‘Where do I belong in tech’ self-evaluation quiz.

Our past applicants have found it to be a useful starting point in helping them figure out their career pivot into tech. From there, we encourage you to do more research by searching for relevant information across the web and also trying your hand at a programming language or two.
