BREAK BARRIERS. BREAK INTO A TECH CAREER.

Facing barriers to employment is a challenge that many individuals face, often impacting some more than others. Our mission in Generation is to create accessible opportunities for everyone.

If you are a person with a disability and want to jumpstart a new and stable career but don’t know how and where to start, we are here to provide the path for you. We aim to foster an inclusive environment where you can acquire the technical skills to kickstart your journey as an entry-level Cloud Engineer in the tech industry.

But it doesn’t stop there. We are dedicated to equipping you with the technical skills, behavioural skills, and mindsets essential for your success.

Here’s the good news: you don’t need a diploma or degree to enrol in this employment program. A training allowance and additional subsidies courtesy of SG Enable will be provided to support you further.

What is Cloud?

Not the big, fluffy collections of tiny water droplets or ice crystals that we see in the sky. Rather, a popular and common use of the cloud is where one can store their digital items, such as documents, pictures, videos, and games. Instead of storing them on a single device, it is strategically distributed across a global network of servers, and is accessed over the Internet.

You may have also come across cloud services providers such as Google Cloud, Microsoft Azure, and Amazon Web Service. Likewise, you may have also used some cloud services too – think Evernote, Dropbox, Google Docs – they all live in the cloud as well!

So your role essentially works with the cloud infrastructure and services. Your responsibilities will thus range from designing, implementing, managing and sustaining the infrastructure of cloud computing services and solutions.

What Should I Look Forward To As A Cloud Engineer?

A cloud engineer further ensures the systems of the cloud are kept secure by troubleshooting for errors, and monitoring and managing the cloud infrastructure. You support the migrations of computer systems to the cloud, and configurations of the cloud infrastructure depending on the organisational needs.

As a lifelong learner, you also keep up with the latest technology advancements to further develop the cloud infrastructure, as well as to provide advice and guidance on cloud-based technologies where appropriate. Your role is also one of a strategic collaborator in a cross-functional team setting to implement best practices for the cloud.

How Will I Be Ready For Employment?

You will gain relevant behavioural, mindset and technical skills through a comprehensive instructor-facilitated training bootcamp that integrates real industry scenarios with practical projects and case studies.

The curriculum prepares you for the entry-level cloud engineer role. This involves performing coding and software engineering that brings a cloud architect’s vision to life. You will also be able to merge traditional programming skills with the specialised knowledge in one or more of the leading cloud platforms’ development environments to build, deploy and optimise cloud-based applications.

After completing the programme, you will be able to undertake the following responsibilities:

  • Set up a cloud solution environment
  • Work collaboratively with software engineering to define infrastructure and deployment requirements
  • Ensure configuration and compliance with configuration management tools
  • Administer and troubleshoot Linux based systems
  • Troubleshoot problems across a wide array of services and functional areas
  • Build and maintain operational tools for deployment, monitoring, and analysis of cloud infrastructure and systems
