About CLT

  1. Our #GetReadySG Company-Led Training (CLT) programmes are structured development programmes designed for recent graduates and mid-career professionals without an education background or prior work experience in the technology industry.

     

    Trainees will undergo salaried on-the-job training for 9 months with Microsoft and Generation employer partners while concurrently pursuing instructor-led training to build technical competencies and capabilities in areas such as Full Stack Development, Data Engineering, or Cloud Support and DevOps.

     

    Upon completion of the 9-month contract, trainees will be able to apply for full-time job opportunities at their respective host companies or receive additional placement assistance from the Generation Singapore team.

  2. The #GetReadySG Microsoft initiative consists of two programmes, the SG United Mid-Career Pathways Program – Company Training (SGUP-CT) and the Company-Led Training (CLT) programme.

     

    The SGUP-CT is a SkillsFuture program is for young professionals and mid-career job-seekers impacted by COVID-19 looking to gain in-demand digital skills and launch new careers in the technology sector. The 9-month program consists of a 3-month job-role-specific training bootcamp, delivered in partnership with Temasek Polytechnic. The training bootcamp is followed by an up to 6-month paid apprenticeship with Microsoft and Generation employer partners.

     

    The Company-Led Training (CLT) programme is for recent graduates and mid-career professionals who want to start a full-time role while pursuing training alongside work. After being selected by an employer partner, trainees will receive a competitive monthly salary as they undergo a 9-month on-the-job training while also receiving instructor-led training in their respective job roles.

     

    Both programmes will provide you with learning pathways that can lead to industry certification by Microsoft. An education background or work experience in technology is not a requirement to apply for both programmes. Upon completion of the 9-month program, trainees will be able to apply for full-time openings at their respective host companies. Trainees will also receive additional placement assistance from Generation Singapore.

  3. The job roles available under the #GetReadySG CLT programmes are:

    • Jr Full Stack Developer
    • Cloud Support & DevOps Engineer
    • Jr Data Engineer

     

    Applicants who are shortlisted by Generation Singapore for the programme of their choice will be able to view the available host companies once they have been onboarded onto our employer-matching platform.

  4. Successful shortlisted applicants will be offered a 9-month full-time training contract with Generation Singapore and their host company. The actual start date will be agreed upon between Generation Singapore and the host company and will be stated on the employment contract. The successful shortlisted applicant should commit to the start and end date that is stated in the employment contract and undergo the programme to the best of their abilities.

  5. Trainees are not required to pay course fees for this programme.

  6. Trainees will be hired on a full-time 9-month contract with Generation Singapore and your host company.

     

    Trainees will receive a salary of up to S$3,500 and up to S$4,500 per month for recent graduates and mid-career professionals respectively for up to 9 months. The figures mentioned are the upper limit of the potential monthly salary offered by host companies. Host companies may offer trainees a monthly salary lower than the above mentioned figures.

     

    Please note that “recent graduates” refer to individuals who graduated in or after 2019, while “mid-career professionals” refer to individuals who graduated in or before 2018.

     

  7. Yes, your monthly salary throughout your 9-month contract includes CPF contributions.

  8. The programme is designed for individuals without an educational background or prior work experience in the technology sector.

     

    We will cover relevant fundamental modules in the curriculum based on in-demand skills needed by employers. We provide as much support as we can with the help of our instructors and the peer support system of each cohort.

     

    One of the mindsets that will be covered in the curriculum is, “persistence” and it is emphasized during the training bootcamp which allows learners to understand the importance of resilience.

     

    We encourage our trainees to be proactive in their learning journey and continue learning outside of classroom hours to ensure success in their career pivot.

  9. We recommend you research all the available job roles before submitting your application.

     

    Aside from searching for information online about the responsibilities and skills required of each role, you can search for day-in-the-life videos and try out a programming language that will be relevant to the role you are interested in.

     

    You can also start with our ‘Where do I belong in tech?’ self-evaluation quiz. Our past applicants from other programs have found it to be a useful starting point in helping them figure out their career pivot into tech.

Eligibility

  1. The #GetReadySG CLT programme is open to individuals who meet the following eligibility criteria: 

    • Singaporeans
    • Commit to completing the full 9-month training programme 
    • Meet the hiring requirements of host companies
    • Possess an ITE, Diploma, Degree or any other relevant qualifications as determined by host companies

    Having an education background or work experience in the technology sector is not a requirement!

    For mid-career professionals aged 40 and above, please visit the TeSA Mid-Career Advance programme instead.

     

  2. To be considered for the CLT programme, you must submit a completed application for the programme of your choice. Your application will be evaluated by the Generation Singapore team according to our internal selection criteria.

  3. Yes, unlike the eligibility requirements for our SGUP-CT programs, you will be eligible for our CLT programmes.

  4. The CLT programmes are designed for individuals without technical knowledge or work experience in the technology industry.

     

    We encourage you to research the job role you are interested in and try your hand at a programming language before you submit an application for the programme of your choice.

     

    Do note that as part of our application process, applicants will complete a few levels of a basic programming language skills course. Details of the programming languages can be found on the respective programme pages.

Application Process

  1. Navigate to your chosen CLT programme page on our website and click on the ‘Apply Now’ button. You will be directed to our application platform where you can register an account and start your application.

     

    If you have previously applied for any of our programmes, please use a different email address to start a new application.

  2. Applications for the CLT Jr Full Stack Developer role are open. Please visit the program page to submit an application.

    You can submit your application at any time to be considered for our upcoming cohorts.

     

    If you are interested in the CLT Cloud Support & DevOps role, please visit the program page to register your interest.

  4. To be a shortlisted applicant for the CLT programme, you must complete an application on the Generation Singapore application platform. The application consists of several key stages:

    1. Personal Particulars, Eligibility Check, and Understanding Program Expectations
    2. Cognitive Test and Technical Task and Assessment
    3. On-Demand Video Interview

     

    The length of the application process will depend on the CLT programme you are applying for.

    • Jr Full Stack Developer – approx. 3 hours
    • Cloud Support & DevOps – approx. 4 hours

     

    Instructions for each stage will be provided in the application platform once you have registered for an account.

  5. You can complete each stage of the application at different times.

     

    However, please note that you will not be able to return to previously completed stages in your application to amend any previous responses. If you would like to stop and return to your application, we recommend that you do so once you have completed a stage and before you start the next stage.

  6. Your application will first be evaluated by the Generation Singapore recruitment team. You will be contacted one month before the programme commences if you are shortlisted.

    As a shortlisted applicant, you will be onboarded onto our employer-matching platform, where you will be able to apply for available roles. Host companies will then review your application and reach out to shortlisted candidates for interviews directly.

     

    If you are selected by a host company, you will be offered a full-time 9-month training contract with Generation Singapore and the host company.

  7. If you have been shortlisted by Generation Singapore, you will have to attend an employability essentials workshop/complete employability essentials training modules before you can apply for job roles available with our employer partners.

     

    Shortlisted applicants are not guaranteed a position with a host company and are expected to apply to job roles and interview with our employer partners before becoming a programme trainee.

  8. We encourage individuals to submit an application for one programme. If you are having trouble deciding which programme is best for you, we recommend that you start with our ‘Where do I belong in tech?’ self-evaluation quiz.

     

    If you have decided to apply for more than one programme, note that you will have to use a different email address for each application that you start due to the limitations of our application platform.

  9. If your application to a CLT programme has been rejected, you will not be able to submit another application for any of the CLT programmes for 6-months.

     

    This 6-month cooling-off period ensures that all applicants get a fair chance at being evaluated and selected for the programme of their choice.

  10. Generation Singapore reserves the right not to provide the reason for the outcome of an application.

Curriculum & Certification

  1. All instructor-led training will be held virtually. More information will be provided to trainees during the programme onboarding.

  2. Bridging courses focusing on technical competencies of the job role will not be offered before the start of the programme. Trainees will be sent pre-course material to complete before the start of the programme.

     

    All shortlisted applicants will be required to complete Employability Essentials modules that focus on improving resumes and interview skills.

  3. Yes, a laptop is required for the program. During the On-the-Job-Training, the host company may issue a work laptop.

    Minimum Hardware Requirements:

    • 1.6 GHz or faster processor
    • Min. 8GB of RAM – recommended 16GB
    • Free Disk Space 20GB or more

    Operative System Requirements:

    • OS X Yosemite or Higher
    • Windows 10 and above – recommended Windows 11 (with .NET Framework 4.wr)
  4. All trainees who complete the 9-month programme will receive a certificate of completion from Generation Singapore.

  5. The programme curriculum covers learning pathways for the following Microsoft Learn certifications:

    • Jr Full Stack Devleoper
      • Microsoft Azure Fundamentals
      • Microsoft Azure Developer Associate (optional)
    • Cloud Support and DevOps
      • Microsoft Azure Administrator

     

    Generation Singapore will offer discounted fees of USD$16.50 for some of the Microsoft Learn certifications (to be further advised), for up to two attempts.

  6. All #GetReadySG CLT Trainees Trainees will be provided access with specialised learning pathways to supplement learning beyond the 400-hour instructor-led bootcamp.

     

    Trainees will have unlimited access to the following platforms throughout the 9-month programme:

    • LinkedIn Learning (all programmes)
    • A Cloud Guru (CLT Cloud Support & DevOps programme)
    • Codecademy (CLT Jr Full Stack Developer programme)

On-the-Job Training & Employment

  1. The objective of the programme is to enable local professionals to stay employed while being reskilled or upskilled via a company-hosted On-the-Job Training (OJT).

     

    Generation Singapore encourages participating companies to consider converting suitable trainees after the programme period into full-time employees. Trainees who have completed the programme would have gained invaluable work experience and in-demand tech skills which will prepare them for a future role.

     

    If the host company is unable to convert the trainee into a full-time employee, the trainee will receive job placement assistance from Generation Singapore.

  2. The objective of the programme is to enable local professionals to stay employed while being reskilled or upskilled via a company-hosted On-the-Job Training (OJT).

     

    Generation Singapore encourages participating companies to consider converting suitable trainees after the programme period into full-time employees. Trainees who have completed the programme would have gained invaluable work experience and in-demand tech skills which will prepare them for a future role.

     

    If the host company is unable to convert the trainee into a full-time employee, the trainee will receive job placement assistance from Generation Singapore for up to 6-months post-programme.

  3. Generation Singapore programme graduates will be connected with employer partners searching for entry-level talent through our exclusive Employer Networking events.

     

    The Generation Singapore team is committed to supporting you post-programme in your search to find full-time employment. We provide support to all graduates for 6-months after completion of the programme.

     

    Graduates will also be supported by our volunteer mentors to help ensure readiness for technical interviews. Our volunteers will be able to help you further refine your resume and improve your interview skills.

  4. Individuals are highly encouraged to research the job role they are interested in before submitting an application to a CLT programme.

     

    If you have been shortlisted for a CLT programme and realise you would prefer another programme track, you will have to submit a new application for the other programme.

     

    Trainees who have signed the 9-month contract with Generation Singapore and the host company will not be able to transfer to another CLT programme track.

  5. Trainees who have signed the 9-month contract with Generation Singapore and their host company will not be able to transfer to another company at any time during the 9-month contract period.

  6. Withdrawal is not encouraged as there is significant investment of time and effort invested by Generation Singapore and the host company. Should a trainee withdraw from their training programme before the programme start date, the stipulated terms in the employment contract would apply. Trainees may refer to their employment contract for details.

  7. Should a host company decide to terminate the employment contract after starting the CLT training programme, the stipulated terms in the employment contract as agreed between the trainee, the host company, and Generation Singapore will apply.

  8. Should a trainee decide to leave the company after starting the CLT training programme, the stipulated terms in the employment contract as agreed between the trainee, the host company and Generation Singapore will apply.

     

    Termination by the trainee is not encouraged, as the programme is an opportunity for each trainee to gain competencies for in-demand tech roles. Generation Singapore and the host company have invested substantial resources to ensure that the trainee benefits from the programme. Therefore, it is important for each trainee to complete the programme.
