Mavis Tong
Programme Manager
Mavis started her career in a maid agency 29 years ago, and she always has the impression that it will be her “first” and “last” job till retirement. She has maintained a good working relationship with the foreign domestic helpers and their employers over the years and she still keeps in contact with them till todate.. She enjoys working with people and being able to help them is the satisfaction that she gets from work. Being motivated, dynamic and result-oriented are the keys to her success.
Mavis lost her job due to the Covid-19 pandemic and she was forced to do a job search again. As a mid-career switcher, this hasn’t been easy for her. She is fortunate to be accepted for the SGUnited Mid-Career Pathway Programme as a Programme Coordinator with Generation Singapore in December 2020,. Upon completion of the program, she is thrilled to know that the organization will absorb her as a full time employee as a Learner Success Associate (LSA). Mavis’s role as a LSA is responsible for the learners’ well being, manage all learners’ facing communication and offer on-going support to troubleshoot key learner concerns. She enjoys supporting all the learners, be it mid-career switchers or the younger generation. The success of the learners is her motivation and drive to succeed in her new career path.
Mavis is also an alumni member in her ex-primary school, Raffles Girls’ Primary School. She is currently the Vice-President of the Alumni Association and she is actively engaged with the planning and executing activities for the little ones. Mavis also enjoys going for a morning walk to watch the sunrise and baking cookies on weekends.
